I am from the small town of Spearman, but am doing my commonwealth where I am currently living. I have been living in Canyon for the past three years and it is a beautiful town. I consider it my home because I feel comfortable and loved by my family members who live here. I moved to get a degree in communication disorders and that is the first commonwealth I would like to talk about. Located in Canyon is West Texas A&M University. This can fall under education and history because of its services to the local community. This university taught me so many things that have increased my knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the workplace. I took two language courses that helped increase my confidence in assessing and being involved in a variety of sessions in the world of speech-language pathology.

Leisure and recreation can be found also at West Texas A&M University. The activity center has a weight room, basketball court, racquetball court, martial art classes, swimming pool area, and a bowling area. This center is full of exciting and fun things to do with friends and family. You can also find the medical center at the activity center. When you really think about it…the majority of the assets are located at the university. This university is very important to the community and is meaningful to thousands of people. I absolutely love this school and cannot wait to give back whatever I can. So really you could say that the sense of place is located at this very school and know that this university provides many qualities to the local community. WTAMU also has some of the best athletes and musicians. This university is full of talent and hard workers.

I am proud to consider myself a Buff and always know where I belong. I also would like to mention the nation’s second largest canyon, which is Palo Duro Canyon. This beautiful area is not only known to hikers, but for those who love the show Texas. Texas is located in the canyon’s amphitheater and attracts thousands of people in the panhandle. We are proud to have something so beautiful and meaningful to our small community. I love you Canyon…I love my sense of place…I love my home. 🙂
