My Internship So Far.

Throughout this summer I have been diligently working alongside the Holyoke Chamber of Commerce and their Executive Director Holly Ferguson. The Chamber every Wednesday this summer has been serving the community free root beer floats at a different local business that is a Chamber Member. At the very beginning of my internship, I helped setup for the Chamber’s first ever Home and Garden Expo. It was hosted at the event center and there was breakfast and lunch that was served for the vendors and consumers. I primarily helped with setting up, taking people’s orders, and taring down once the event was over. This past week the Chamber was finally able to do their annual Dandelion Daze after not being able to do so due to Covid-19. This annual car show is a blast for the community and this year the Chamber provided a larger expansion of activities. Holly and I worked on organizing and planning the event. We worked to make sure that we had everything in order, registration forms from vendors, cars, and the cornhole tournament. The event started on June 18th in the evening and provided a donation dinner that was served by the local fire department for Fill the Boot. The Chamber also did its first ever beer garden and I helped alongside the board members make sure that everyone was over the age of 21. On June 19th was the day of the car show and kid activities. The kid activities were being held at the city park and I was working in that area to help vendors setup and take down their booths. I also was in charge of giving children their wrist bands in order for them to play on the inflatable attractions and have access Dozer Games. I look forward to continuing to partake in other events that the Chamber hosts. Throughout this summer I want to further work on public relations and how it is vital to informing the community. I also want to gain knowledge on how to delegate tasks according to each team members skills. At the end of this summer, I hope to have further acquired the skills and knowledge in event and project management.
