Hi! My name is Tayla Martin. I’m from Holyoke, a rural town in northeast Colorado. I am a rising sophomore at Holyoke High School. At Holyoke High School, I participate in many extracurricular activities. Some of these being volleyball, swimming, track, FFA, and FBLA. These extracurriculars have provided many amazing opportunities for me, one of them being this internship.
My internship is through the City of Holyoke Recreation. I’ve only been working for about a week now, but I’ve already learned so much! So far, I’ve helped coach T-Ball and Machine Pitch, gone to multiple softball and baseball games, attended a City Council Meeting, and various other things. Even though it has only been a week, I’m really enjoying my internship, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn new things!
My summer has already been so busy, but I’ve spent it doing things that I love. Even though school is over, my high school track season is still going on because of COVID-19 related issues. In between track meets and practice, I’m also going to swim and volleyball practice. I love participating in and playing sports, and the lessons I’ve learned during them have helped shape me into the person that I am today. When I’m not playing sports, I enjoy spending times with friends and family, watching Tik Tok, and reading my Bible. During the summers, my brother and I also run our lawn mowing business together. With all of these combined with my internship, I will definitely be staying busy and learning new things!
