Hi, my name is Katie Peterson. I was born an Air Force “brat” on a base in Anchorage, Alaska, and spent the next 13 years living all over the world, where I learned to not only appreciate other cultures, but my own as well. From having to learn German to go to the local grocery store, to dealing with celebrity status because of my blonde hair in South Korea, my life has been a series of fun and exciting events. I like to sing, play volleyball, and do historical interpretations. I absolutely love to spend my time out at Boggsville Historic Site, just a couple miles south of my hometown, Las Animas, Colorado. After I graduate from high school, I want to pursue an educational path that will allow me to become a leader in Historical Preservation. I am excited that this internship will not only allow me to help my community through natural growth and development, but it will also provide me with the experience of working with community leaders to help reach those goals.
I am excited to be heading to Dumas, Texas this week to learn more about this internship and what it has in store for our community! I was put into the Wildlife and the Natural World Commonwealth asset. I am not entirely sure what this will entail, but since I currently work at the Boggsville Historic Site, I am excited to see how this ties in with our community and how it comes to our aide.
