What I’ve been up to! {Laynee Unterkirche}

By: Laynee Unterkirche

These past few weeks I’ve got to work at many businesses in town and learned many new and exciting things. During the first week of my internship, I worked at a flower shop and boutique called Nicole’s Corner which has just recently opened. At this business I helped with stocking inventory, running the cash register, delivering flower orders, and I even got to make flower arrangements. One of the main things I did here though was I entered data into her register system to facilitate easier sales. I learned so much about what it takes to run a business and I had so much fun.

The next week I was at Mid-Tule Village which is a retirement community for senior citizens in my town. I never really knew we had a place like this in town and getting to work there was an amazing experience. The main tasks I did were file paperwork and help with the events they had for the residents. Helping with these events was so much fun and there was one every day. The first day was crafts, the next day was walking with the residents, then we had a potluck for the residents, then we had bingo, and finally, on my last day, we served coke floats to the residents. I loved getting to help with all these activities because it made them so happy. Finally, I am currently at the Tulia Chamber of Commerce and I’m currently helping plan a memorial golf tournament. I’m so excited for the next businesses I get to go to and ready to learn many new things.
