There are many commonwealth assets in my community. Every community has assets regardless of its size or economic conditions. Through my mapping project I was able to encounter new things about my hometown Silverton, Texas. Now I know more about my community’s history. Having a good knowledge about your particular community or family’s history is key. For example, by being able to share about your community’s history, you can interest others in the history of your town. Hopefully this will interest and bring others to your community as well. Although history was very interesting, the two assets that stood out to me were education and spirituality. For education I visited my school. This was easy for me to do because I am doing my internship there. My school has taught me many things that will help me out in the long run. Although education can be very stressful, it is very important to stay active with extracurricular activities in your school that involve your community. I encourage you to take the opportunity to help your school in any possible way you can. It is a vital part in any community. Spirituality is another key asset that allows the community to practice and express their religion freely. I am a member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church in Silverton. I am a participating altar server that assists the priest during Sunday mass. I also encourage you to participate in being spiritual and expanding your spirituality. Commonwealth is a foundation for all communities big or small and helps enhance a community as a whole.
