Having this internship through ogallala Commons has really helped me decide on the career path that I want to take. At the end of last school year I was sure that my summer would be filled was hours of working for my dad sheetrocking and painting. Towards the end of the school year my aunt Chelsey said you should do an internship through ogallala Commons. She started explaining it to me and I started this could probably be better than working for my dad this summer. Little did I know how much of an impact this internship is going to affect my future plans going into my senior year of high School.
I started filling out the paperwork for this internship at at the ogallala Commons office and of course the question was asked what I wanted to do in college and with my life.I have given this question thought before so told them I’ve thought about being a pe teacher or coach maybe or physical trainor and maybe a physical therapist.
I finished the paperwork and went home and really didn’t know what to expect.
a couple weeks went by and my aunt Chelsey called and said that it looks like they have a place for me this summer at the physical therapy department of Southeast Colorado hospital.I was pretty happy when I got the news and definitely sounded better than beating the heat working with my dad.
now fast-forward to July 12th and I’ve already completed my first week here at the physical therapy department. I like it here a lot and have decided that this is what I want to do. I enjoy interacting with the people that come in and helping them on the machines. I really like playing catch with a ball with some of the elderly patients. It’s not always as fun as that though I spend a lot of time cleaning the gym and shredding medical documents. this is a great place to work with a great group of people. I realize that I for sure want to go to college and get at least my 2-year degree as a physical therapist assistant.
