Hello, I am Lindsay Warning. I am 18 years old and I grew up in a small Nebraska town called Holdrege. I am the older sister of two little siblings, Wyatt, my brother, who is now five and my sister, Jordyn, who is three. I competed all of my primary and secondary education in the Holdrege Public School system. Throughout high school, I worked part time jobs as a dietary aide at my local nursing home, a lifeguard at the YMCA, and as an actor in my local haunted house. I just completed my first year of college- the first semester at Fort Hays State University in Kansas and the second semester at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). After transferring to UNK I found a new home at college. Although Fort Hays was a great school, it didn’t feel like that was where I was supposed to be. I then transferred to the University of Nebraska at Kearney for my second semester of my freshman year. Next year I will be a Residential Assistant at UNK where I will be in charge of a floor of freshman girls and will be the Vice President of the National Art Education Association UNK Chapter. Also, next year I will be going to school with my best friend and boyfriend of two years, Isaac, who just graduated from High School this year. Although we have been together for two years, we have been in a long distance relationship and have not been in the same place for the same time for more than two weeks, so next year will be a little demanding in the best of way.

From a young age, I recognized and appreciated the beauty of shapes and designs. My mother encouraged my creativity from childhood and I was fortunate enough to have amazing teachers along the way who also encouraged my creativity. My strongest hobby is art. Another of my hobbies is volunteer work. I love to give back and help those who are in need. I am passionate about art and education. My long term career goal is to become an art teacher. I hope to find a teaching position in central Nebraska and to start my teaching career in an elementary or middle school setting. As I further my career, I could like to continue my education by getting a master’s degree in art and strengthening my teaching skills with education classes and workshops. This internship will help me use and further develop my art skills and network with other professionals who will teach me things that would be out of my reach otherwise. I have met with all the business owners that I will be interning for this summer and they all seem like amazing, kind people with awesome businesses and I am excited to further work with and get to know them throughout the course of this summer.
