Hello everyone! My name is Tanley Andersen, and I am so excited to begin my third Ogallala Commons Internship! Being an OC intern has been a central part of my summers for the past three years. I’m anxious to begin my work at the Haxtun Chamber of Commerce again, despite a few minor setbacks from COVID-19. One of my favorite aspects of being an OC intern is attending the annual retreat in Dumas, Texas. Although we were not able to attend in person this year, the virtual retreat was still very informative! I hope to be able to see everyone at the retreat next year.

I am from Phillips County, located in the very northeastern corner of Colorado. This year I am going to be a senior at Haxtun High School, where I participate in track, cheerleading, FFA and FBLA. I am also serving as the Colorado FBLA District 4 State Officer! When not busy with all of my extracurriculars, I can be found working part-time at our local movie theatre, painting or at the lake with my friends.

In past internships, I have had multiple different job settings. I have worked in hospital marketing departments as well as at the Haxtun Chamber of Commerce. This year, I am working only at the Haxtun Chamber of Commerce. I am in charge of many social media activities for the Chamber. I schedule posts, design graphics, create logos and much more for the town of Haxtun.

This internship has given me the opportunity to expand my professional network, build tangible skills and strengthen my confidence. I would encourage anyone that is passionate about giving back to their community to look into being an Ogallala Commons Intern.
