Hi everybody. My name is Stuart Schmidt and I am excited to be an intern for Ogallala Commons. So far the experience has been a good one, with much more to go, but I’m excited to see how this internship plays out and the tools and skills it will give me. As for a little about myself, I was born in Beloit, Kansas and grew up on a farm near Smith Center, Kansas. Following my high school graduation, I attended Dodge City Community College on a football scholarship, and after DCCC, I attended Fort Hays State University and graduated with my degree in Health and Human Performance. Growing up in a farming community, I was always helping on the farm, but I have always had a desire to meet new people, and to be creative and design all kinds of products. From a very young age I can remember drawing and designing things on the family computer, completely by hand, because back in those days, we didn’t have the fancy software we do now. I am incredibly interested in the intertwining of humans across the globe, and am excited to learn more about those residing within this region. I am currently employed on my family farm, and am also the owner of my own business, Skyline Advertising and Design. I am married to my wife Amy, and have an 11 year old daughter, Jaci. I am passionate about providing a solid living to provide for my family. I am very interested in health and fitness, and have a desire to travel as much of the world as possible. My long-term career goal is to be able to be my own boss, working from home remotely as much as possible, while still helping out on the family farm. This internship will help me to reach those goals by providing me with solid skills necessary to be successful in life, and a network of people around the region who share a passion for the Midwest, like myself. I look forward to this opportunity.
