If you were in Larned Kansas this weekend, you surely heard the words Santa Fe Trail Days. Larned has been celebrating our heritage through this event for 23 years. We had food and craft vendors, a wonderful parade, a car show, inflatables, a carnival, two great concerts, and the list goes on. It was a fabulous weekend to be in the area.
The Chamber of Commerce is the backbone of the celebration and put much of their time, effort, and funds into the event. My job through the Chamber was to capture it all on film. I made it to nearly every event with a camera in hand. I didn’t find many new friends but I did learn that having a video camera freaks people out. My end product will (hopefully) be a great video that will help promote Santa Fe Trail Days for years to come.
My main focus in the last week has been deciding what shots I needed to get for my video and planning around the schedule of events for the weekend. For the next week I will be working on the video. After the video is complete I will begin again on my other projects which are implementing a Shop Local program and also a Youth Entrepreneurship program. I have been researching these two programs and writing down ideas on how to implement them effectively. It’s going to take a lot of work but I hope I can at least plant the seeds for the programs to grow from.
Here is a photo of my friend Tristen, my supervisor Sydney, and I with the Friday night band “The Jared Daniels Band” and next is a photo of main street in Larned during the celebration this weekend.
