I have begun my internship here at the Plainview Foundation for Rural Health Advancement clinic or PFRHA for short, here in my home town of Hart and I couldn’t be more excited! I work Tuesday through Thursday and the clinic is right down the road from where I live so I don’t have to drive far at all. Here at the clinic I assist with a variety of things. I have learned how to take the blood pressure of patients and record it in their charts. I have observed vaccines being administered and have learned about the different vaccinations and dosages. During the summer at the clinic we mainly work with dental patients so I have learned how to properly sanitize the dental equipment and how to put it away. I have also learned a lot about the correct way to file the charts and information of patients. I get to work hands on with patients and I get to interact with them more than I was expecting and I really enjoy it. Participating in this internship has only helped reassure me that I am on the right career path and made me that much more excited to get started. One of the best parts of this internship is I get to work with a registered nurse who has been practicing for 35+ years. Any questions I have about anything I can go to her and she has the answer. I get along great with the people I work with and am looking forward to a great summer with them!
