My name is Lainee Leathers, and I attend Springfield Jr/Sr Highschool. I am going into my sophomore year at Springfield Highschool with a 4.0 GPA. I participate in three different sports, volleyball, basketball, and track. My favorite sport is volleyball. Every summer I attend volleyball camps such as hitting, setting, and defensive camps. I had the opportunity to play with a great bunch of girls this year. Unfortunately, COVID-19 destroyed our dreams of going to state in volleyball and basketball. Luckily, our track season was not interrupted and allowed us to go to state. I had an amazing experience at state and met so many different people. I am looking forward to the next 3 years of high school.
I am very interested in the medical field, specifically EMS (Emergency Medical Service). I love the feeling of helping someone whether it’s just paying for their meal. This summer I am interning at the Southeast Colorado Hospital Ambulance Service and I will have the opportunity to go on calls with the crew, learn what’s in the ambulance, and how almost everything works. I took the first-aid and CPR class in order to be able to intern with EMS. I learned a lot from that class such as how to put on a tourniquet, how to save an amputated body part, and normal first-aid on someone. I will work with the ambulance crew for 100 hours and will hopefully get on as a peridium once I am done with my internship. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to scope out my future career path.
