Hey guys,
I’ve had an amazing first two weeks during my internship. I’ve had so many new and exciting adventures. I’ll start with my first week, I was fortune to be able to tour 5 feed yards with Mr. Levi Berry which he helps to manage. These yards included Quien Sabe Feeders, where I was lucky enough to learn more about how feed yards work by the Cattle Manager Joelle Pillen, and the Feed yard manager Richard Winter. I had a wonderful time and I learned so much about how a feed yard works and how hard all the men and Women who work there work! During this week I also had the pleasure to be able to go to a Texas Cattle Feeders Association, about their new communication strategy. I this week I learned so much about how cattle nutrition, The work that goes on in a feed yard like sorting the cattle. Or the technical aspect of taking care of the sick or injured cattle.
My second week I learned more about extension with Calley Runnels and John Villalba. During this week I helped Mr. John with Major Steer Validation and the next day I was able to accompany him to the District 2 4-H Horse Show! Where I was able to help get students organized into their lines for their competitions! As well as during this week I was able to help Mrs. Calley with creating a poster and social media posts for the Swisher County Birthday Celebration. As well as being able to help create social media posts on water conservation in homes to help home owners who follow the Swisher County Extension page on Facebook. During this week I learned so much more about a lot of the back ground information of Extension. I learned more about how Horse shows work, as well as how to plan for large groups of people.
