I am Arlette Hinestroza-Ruiz, an education major at Fort Hays State University. Though I am from Holcomb Kansas, I am originally from Chihuahua Mexico, where I was raised up until the age of 6. My family moved to Kansas, and that is where we have lived for a few years now. Most of my hobbies are of the quiet variety, as I enjoy writing, watching movies, and listening to music. Except for karaoke, which is my favorite activity even though I’m not very good at singing. My family enjoys a karaoke night every now and then. They’re the people I spend most of my time with when I’m not working or studying. When I am studying, I work towards an education degree geared toward elementary students. Though I like working with kids, I would like to teach high school art, or college writing one day. Though education is my chosen major, I do dream of becoming a writer one day. I hope to become a children’s novelist or an author for young adult fiction. My goal is to finish my degree and then continue as a writer while working until I can eventually become a writer. However, in order to do that, there are skills I must learn. I think that this is a great start to developing some of those skills. I’m excited about which skills I will develop and where they will lead me. Even if I don’t reach my goal, I am confident that wherever this internship takes me, it will be to something great.
