Introduction: Neal Zelarney

I am a fifth generation Colorado native living in Denver and I recently graduated from Quest UniveCo-op Image for Blog 1rsity Canada. At Quest, instead of majors, each student chooses a question to focus on during their final two years. My question was, “What is the perfect meal?” Through this question, I explored the path food takes from where it is produced until it is in a person’s mouth.

I spent the last two years thinking about food and now want to improve theSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES way people eat. We critically need solutions to many of the environmental (e.g. eutrophication, climate change, and the pesticide treadmill) and societal issues (e.g. obesity and food insecurity) of our food system. My long-term goal is to create my own business/organization that allows everyone to access the perfect meal through urban agriculture. I am intern with the High Plains Food Co-op, which is an organization that connects small/medium size family farmers across the High Plains with consumers across the Denver Metro/Front Range Area. I am excited to learn more about how the distribution of local food works.
