My name is Christen Damron, and I am completing my second term as an Ogallala Commons Intern. I have lived in Tulia, TX my whole life, so I have a soft spot for this community and all that it offers. I graduated from Nazareth High school and will be continuing my education at Texas Tech University where I will major in Pre- Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. I have set a goal of receiving my Master’s Degree from TTU and becoming a Speech Pathologist where I will help stroke victims and patients with disorders that prevent them from speech. I discovered this interest when I was shadowing a Speech Pathologist in my local hospital through my first internship with Ogallala Commons. This is the very reason why I have decided to complete another internship with this organization because of the many opportunities it gave me. Without this internship I would never have found my passion, and I will forever be grateful for that. During my second term, I will be gaining experience from local Speech Pathologists where I will shadow them in hospitals. I will also receive opportunities to give back to my community. I am so excited to start this years internship with Ogallala Commons. I know I will learn so much through these amazing opportunities, and I can not wait to get started!
