Introduction

My name is Christina Jackson, but I go by my middle name, Quinn. I was born and raised in the little town of Lockney, Texas. I have two siblings, an older sister and a younger brother. I have been attending West Texas A&M University since the fall of 2012 and I will start my final semester of nursing school in August of this year. I do not have a particular reason for choosing nursing, I have just always had the desire to be a nurse. I am very excited to graduate with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, as well as become a registered nurse.

This internship is providing me with an opportunity to gain experience in the field of work I want to pursue post graduation. I will be interning at the Covenant Hospital in Plainview, Texas. Plainview is a town about 15 miles from my hometown, so I am familiar with the hospital and have visited many people who were patients there. I am excited to be “behind the scenes” for a change and be able to gain experience from the nursing side instead of the visitor/patient side. Post graduation I would like be able to become a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse; however, Plainview does not have a NICU. Therefore, I will be doing most of my internship this summer in the newborn nursery, which will give me some of the experience I need caring for newborns. I am looking forward to participating in this internship and gaining not only experience, but additional knowledge throughout the summer!
