INtroduction

I’m Felicia Patel. I am from Amarillo, TX. I currently go to the nursing school at West Texas A&M University. I have just finished my first semester of nursing school and excited to start my first internship with Ogallala. The one thing I am most passionate about in nursing is one day being able to help all the premature/sick babies get healthy and strong. My long-term career goal is to become a NICU Nurse. I think a internship will help me reach this goal by giving me the experience I need to become a good nurse. In 2010, I got my Certified Nurse aide license. After getting certified I was able to clinical rotation at varies different clinic and hospital. Out of all the places I shadowed I loved being in the neonatal intensive care unit. It was a different kind of feeling being in there and it felt like that is the place I need to be. From then on I have been dead set on becoming neonatal intensive care unit nurse. When I got out of high school I went to Collin College and started my undergraduate after a year there I decided to move closer to my family in Amarillo, So I continued my undergraduate at Texas Tech University. When I was close to getting all my prerequisites done I looked into the nursing program at Tech. However, Texas Tech University only has a one term nursing program which would not work for me because that only started in the fall. So I decided to branch out to other Universities that were 2 termed. And that is when I came across West Texas A&M University. West Texas A&M University was convenient because it was even closer to home and the nursing program was accredited. Also by attending West Texas A&M nursing school, I got introduced to this intern program which brought to me Hereford Regional Medical Center. I cannot wait to see what this internship holds for me!
