I am from Denver, but live in a small town called Rocky Ford in beautiful Colorado. I am a senior at Rocky Ford Jr./Sr. High School. A huge part of me is my church which is called Family Worship Center. I am Native American which is also a big part of me. I am very involved in my culture from going to the “Pow Wows” and visiting the reservations. A little tradition on Thanksgiving was that I use to go to Sand Creek Massacre and the people off the reservations would run 15 miles into town. My biggest passion I would have to say is running. I love running, I could run for miles and probably never get tired of it. I have placed at state in cross country and at regionals and it is probably the biggest part of me. My main interest are, of course running and my church. My academics are also a huge part of me, I always try to strive for the best in the things I do to show the talents that God has blessed me with. I love, love, and love volunteering. Anything that is put in front of me I will find a way to work with it. My long term career goals are to become a surgeon and specialize in being a neurosurgeon. I wanted to become a neurosurgeon for the reasoning that my grandmother had Alzheimer’s and before she passed it wasn’t easy talking to her and she didn’t have a clue who I was. So I want to try help cure the Alzheimer’s when I am older and help people. I can hopefully start shadowing one of the surgeons in La Junta so I can gain more perspective on the surgeon life. This internship would be such a tremendous help from that it will get the colleges I need to see me. Also a big factor that it will teach me and give me the many skills to carry with me throughout my life.
