Hello all! My name is Sydney Keim and this is my second internship with Ogallala Commons. I live in Lubbock, am a Tech graduate, have a husband, and three cats whom I love dearly. I like to create pottery in my spare time as well as watch comedy shows with my husband, Robert. Also, it is rare for us to miss a local farmer’s market. I did my first internship six years ago in 2014 when I was a junior in high school and absolutely loved it.
Since then, I have graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Communication Studies. I hope to go back to school for a Masters in Psychology which I will use to become a therapist specializing in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I am not sure whether I would like to be a therapist for adults or children yet, but I am leaning towards helping children.

During my first internship, I bounced around different areas of my local government in Tulia, TX. For my current internship, I will be working on the Local Llano Project which helps raise awareness of the food grown and produced locally and sustainably in the Llano Estacado area. That means I get to ALL THE FARMER’S MARKETS! I have been working on this project for about a week now and have already learned so much about our local growers, butchers, and bakers– I cannot wait to continue this journey and broaden my knowledge of my own Llano Estacado Food Shed.

I hope you will continue to follow along as I learn and grow through this internship. Stay safe and don’t forget to buy local!
