Four markets into the summer and this is hands-down my favorite job. All the vendors and all the volunteers helping with the market are such amazing and nice people. Working with these wonderful people has made this job something I look forward to. The one unfortunate thing about this job is I must wake up at 5 o’clock in the morning and let me tell you, I am not a morning person and I highly doubt that I will ever become one. The early mornings however are worth it. Watching the sunrise on Pikes Peak is beautiful and there is just something so peaceful about watching the world wake up. Plus, we have an amazing vendor who sells the most amazing coffee and is set up just a few steps away from the market managers table. Walking around the market I have seen some of the most amazing parts of the community that I hadn’t seen before. Some days chalk art appears on the sidewalk, other days I get the chance to talk to people who have come all the way from Florida, only to be scared by the bears, even though they have alligators to deal with. Much scarier in my opinion.
Last market we even got a market mascot, a 6-month Colorado Mountain Dog named Paddy! He is everybody’s favorite part of the market now, including mine. Unfortunate this past market also brought some rain and hail with it. This caused the market to close early and head home. Despite the weather the markets spirits have not been dampened and we are ready to go for this next Friday, (although we all have our fingers crossed for good weather this time around) and we will be there rain or shine! I have barely scratched the surface of what the market has to offer and I am excited for what the rest of the summer has to offer me. Regardless, this will be a summer to remember!
