My internship has given me the opportunity to be exposed to various fields and specialty areas of nursing. I will be interning at Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger, Texas. My internship will begin on Friday June 20th; my schedule will be Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and end on Sunday July 20th. I have worked one on one with my supervisor, Becky Peery to create a schedule with a wide variety of different exposures and learning opportunities. We have decided to meet before I go into a new unit and work together to establish my learning outcomes and goals for that unit. Working with my supervisor very closely will allow be to build a trusting work relationship, while teaching professionalism and collaboration. I will be interning on various days in Labor and Delivery, Emergency Room, Operating Room, Home Health, Med. Surg.,Women’s and Children’s Acute Care Clinic, and a local Nurse Practioner Clinic. Nursing is a very diverse filed and the opportunities are endless, and it is very important to be knowledgeable and aware of your career options. My biggest dream for the future is to become a specialized OB/GYN and Pediatric Nurse Practioner, I hope by being exposed to various areas I will have a better understanding and more defined goals in order to make that dream a reality. I am very excited to see how each and every area operates and am thrilled to be working and learning with people of my community.
