I am beginning my second term of my internship this summer where I will mostly be working in my hometown, Tulia. I have set many goals for my time as an intern that will allow me to build my character as a professional. I am working to strengthen my leadership, communication, and networking skills. I am taking actions to achieve these goals by getting out of my comfort zone and taking charge on my own. I will be given the opportunity to accomplish these through interning with different organizations within my community. Since I am interested in Speech Pathology, I will be shadowing many Speech Pathologists in order to learn about my future career. I will also be going to different places like the Summer Reading Program and Meals on Wheels. Even though I have so much to learn, I have already learned so much in just four weeks! Starting on June 5-6, I attended the Ogallala Commons Orientation where I learned all about this organization and Commonwealth. I also learned how to be professional and got the chance to connect with my fellow interns. The next two weeks I assisted at the Kress Summer School where I helped the kids strengthen their reading and math skills. I learned so much about the teaching field and loved getting to spend time with the students. On June 25-28, I interned at my local hospital. I was given the privilege to experience each department of the hospital. Next, I will be shadowing at the Covenant Hospital in Plainview, and I cannot wait to find out what I will learn next!
