First Experience

The first Farmers Market of Woodland Park 2017 was probably the best yet for the community. For the first Market of the season, there was a huge amount of people who showed up. The Farmers Market’s new location was much easier to maneuver for our vendors and on top of this the weather was perfect. People even made a point to come to the Market Manager stand and share how they were very pleased with the market; which is always an encouragement to know the hard work put in has paid off. The next Market was very cold and rainy but despite the weather some very loyal vendors and customers still managed to brave the elements and make our market happen. So far the season has started off to a great start.

Over the last few weeks I have begun working on building the manual and as usual there is always more involved than what meets the eye. There are so many little details that go into running a market and I’ve only scratched the surface. Not only are there a long list of tools needed to run a Market but also a lot of technicalities involved such as insurance coverage, bank account information and also city council information involved. So far I have only met with my supervisor to review the beginnings of this manual but I plan on meeting with the Founder of our Market and also plan on setting up meetings with other Market Managers from other areas near our community. I look forward to meeting new people and learning from them to better prepare our Market Manual and to make new connections.
