My name is Marsha Janis. I am from Wanblee, South Dakota. I have lived on the Pine Ridge Reservation all my life. Crazy Horse School  is the only school I have attended K-12. I was a part of student council, played basketball, volleyball and handgames all four years of high school. I just finished my first year of college at Oglala Lakota College and I am studying Nursing. I have always wanted to go into the medical field, because my mom works as a dental assistant at the Indian Health Services in Pine Ridge, and she has worked for them 23 years this september. She always inspired me to work hard to achieve whatever I wanted in anything that I choose to work on. An interest that I have is helping people, in anyway I can, no matter the situation. My long term career goals is to become a travel nurse and then take everything I have learned and come back to work at the IHS in my comunnity. An internship could help me reach these goals by learning to communicate with people better, and learning career skills that I will need in the future in order to suceed. I am very thankful for this opportunity.
