Finding a Place

After working at my first Farmers Market I was overwhelmed by the many choices I could take to help in a unique way. I knew that I wanted to help with recycling and water and environmental awareness but I had no idea how to begin. In fact, I’m still just at the tip of the ice berg. Although, I am still learning my main goal is to help our Famers Market grow.

My favorite job at the Market is to walk around and pass out papers to each vendor, it gives the opportunity for the vendors to share what they offer to the community. One time as I was walking through the Market I was lured to a glass case full of mini pies that smelled terrific. After talking further with the vendor I came to learn the recipe is based off the pies made in New Zealand. I love this because I am getting to know the people of my community. To get to sample and hold the products people make with such passion and hard work makes me feel privileged to be a part of something that lets people share their trades. The Famers Market is a place where people can come and display their unique ideas with Woodland Park and make our town even more interesting.

I want more people to see the importance of our Famers Market so I have taken on the task of presenting to local business the value I see in people coming together in this way and ask for their help to put into action an even better market.
