COMMUNITY SERVIcE IS THE BOMB

I have been involved in many community service activities through-out the summer. These activities have been an enjoyable and a rewarding experience.

I helped with Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church in Tulia. I helped with third grade on one day and several days I helped in the preschool/nursery. I assisted with games, art activities, bible stories, music and snack. Our theme was Agency D3 in which they learned how to discover, decide and defend how Jesus was more than just a good man, truly died upon the cross, and was resurrected, and learned to defend their beliefs.  Working with children is one of my favorite things.

I was a volunteer for the Finish The Ride which is a local bike race that funds the Aaron Ross Scholarship. I drove around and took pictures of bike riders and also helped hand out water, Gatorade and fruit.

I assisted with the Omicron Study Club’s annual Miss Splash competition during picnic. I helped show the contestants where to walk during the competition and encouraged them with waves and smiles. There were just over thirty girls competing from ages four through eighth grade. This competition is held every year to focus on poise, confidence and personality.

I also helped organize and judge the Kiddie Parade. We had seven children on decorated bikes and scooters. They were all so cute it was very hard to judge but everyone received prizes so that made it better. They rode the distance of one city block and I walked with them for safety purposes.

I chose these activities because I love helping out others and just being around different kinds of kids and adults. My summer has been extremely busy which has been challenging, but it has been full of laughter, love, and wonderful memories that I will always keep with me. I have had a wonderful summer.
