Service has always played a huge role in my way of giving back to the community to which I live in. Community service to me is an opportunity for one to give back and show an act of kindness. Community service was one of the reasons I decided to join a sorority Kappa Delta Chi. Which one of our biggest missions is to give service to other and our communities. Through the course of this internship we were given to perform ten hours of community service. To receive my ten hours of community service I did a variety of projects. From kitchen clean up at the OC retreat (thanks again shelby!), to donated numerous clothing items to several organizations such as Concho Resource Center in Lubbock, Texas. As well as to GoodWill and other locations. Other service hours performed was at the boys and girls club during a zumba class and other physical activities. With the time and effort put into these community service hours I grew more as a person and valued more the small things in life. For instance every time I donate clothing items a great feeling enters my body. Feels great to know something that may not hold much value to me any longer will mean the world to another individual. Sometimes in life not all of us lucky many face struggles some tougher than others. Something I gain from giving back to my community through service is a feeling of knowing I am doing something good in life. Life is not all about you, you, you there are humans out there we have it harder than others. I value the life and privileges I have even more. There really was not many challenges faced through doing my hours of service. If anything I lost my breath during two rounds of Zumba lol. I am certainly not in the same zumba shape I was in high school lol.
