community service

I did post my community service blog but it was on the old web site so I am going off memory at this point and my school computer which is in Amarillo. I usually use my home computer in NM and I believe that is where the information is.

I did volunteer work at the country club in Tucumcari helping to set up for an event.  It was my first time there and it is on the 18 hole golf course.  It is very beautiful and green, of course.

I also helped set up at the Elks Club for a wedding.  A person can join the Elks Club but you have to be invited and the annual dues are 100.00.  You can reserve the facility for functions and they have a pool.  However, people can smoke there and I don’t care for that.  It is also a very old and dark facility.

I have volunteered many times in Amarillo at the Elk Wood Park.  There are about 8 churches that rotate feeding the homeless every Sunday at 4pm.  They feed about 150 people and everyone appreciates a hot meal.  The churches also donate clothes if they have enough volunteers to help.

I volunteer most Saturday mornings helping at the Farmers market in Tucumcari.  It is nice because it is all local people and we get to see old friends that we may not have seen not to mention the fresh produce..etc.
