My internship is at Hereford Regional Medical Center so my major projects consist of working in different departments of the hospital such as: Obstetrics, Med/Surg, Emergency department, the OR, and Post Anesthesia care unit. My goals for my internship are to gain as much knowledge as possible and to be able to apply them in my own future experiences as an RN.
My first experiences were incredible. The staff at Hereford Regional Medical Center all seem very caring and are extremely knowledgeable about the care and treatment of patients. They have all made me feel at home and allowed me to get involved in so many things such as drug administration, IV placements, blood draws, Foley catheter placement, NG tube placement, wound change, and so much more. The staff always tests my knowledge and teach me things that I have yet to learn. Lets just say I’ll have an advantage in cardiology for my senior year at WTAMU thanks to my ER rotation. I’ve had the opportunity to experience ER, Obstetrics, Med/Surg, and ICU and so far ER is my favorite. Not to say that I didn’t enjoy the others, but the intensity and the severity of every decision made by the nurses and doctors in the ER has me feeling that the ER might be where I belong.
Every day I learn something new so I’m excited to continue my internship and gain as much from it as possible.
Here are a couple of pictures showing examples of what I did during my rotations.
