Blog 1: Your Bio

Hi, my name is Emma Roll and I am so excited to have the opportunity to experience an internship through Ogallala Commons! I was born and raised here in Holyoke, CO and just graduated from high school here this spring. I have been super involved throughout high school, participating in as many extracurricular events I could. I held officer roles in Future Business Leaders of America, the National FFA Organization, and student council. I’ve also actively competed in sports my entire life. These activities have taught me so many valuable life lessons and skills that will definitely help me down the road. However, it also led me to develop many passions which makes it difficult to decide on a career path. As I will be attending Kansas State University in the fall to further my education, I was looking for good work experience to prepare me for that as well as develop my skills more. I think this internship will be a great experience for me because it is a great blend of a few of my different passions. My internship will be conducted with the City of Holyoke where I will experience many different work opportunities. Much of my time will be spent with the Recreation Department working on summer programs and events. I will also work with the Chamber of Commerce and many different nonprofits around town. I am certain that it will not only help me develop professional skills and experience, but also help me in my search of a long term career choice.
