Blog 1- Introduction Bio

By: Kaylee Denney

My name is Kaylee Denney and I am 18 years old and just graduated from Ulysses High School. I was born in Liberal, KS and lived in Downs, KS for the first three years of my life. I moved to Ulysses with my mom back in 2006 and have been here ever since. I have one step-brother and we are 12 years apart. I have been a member of 4-H for 12 years and FFA for three years. 4-H has helped me become the woman I am today and encouraged me to go towards an ag related career. I was the FFA reporter for two years and I started and ran the Ulysses FFA Facebook page

I plan to attend Dodge City Community College and get my associates degree in ag business. After Dodge I am wanting to transfer to a university and get my bachelors in ag business. When I am done with school, I am wanting to become an extension agent. I’ve enjoyed being a member of 4-H, and believe I can help 4-H continue to thrive. I am interning at the K-State Research and Extension office in Grant County. This internship will help me understand the background of my future job more fluently.

I enjoy being around animals, and I ride horses and show livestock. My favorite thing to do with my horse is barrel racing. I love the adrenaline rush I get coming off of the third barrel to go home. The main livestock animals I show are lambs, goats, and chickens. I have shown everything except for cattle and dairy.

My favorite things to do in my spare time are play with my dogs, work with my animals and watch tv. I have four dogs, two purebreds, and two crosses. I used to show dogs through 4-H and was in the dog project for 10 years. We rescued my two German Shepherd crosses from the pound in Garden City and bought my other two from breeders. Only one of my dogs likes to play with dog toys and the other three like to sleep.

I am looking forward to keeping you updated on my internship this Summer.
