Hi! I’m Sophie Russell and I will be a senior at Swink High School this upcoming school year. I have lived in La Junta my whole life on my family’s ranch. I love animals, especially cattle and hope to someday own my own herd. I enjoy being active in my local 4-H club. I’m currently serving on the Colorado State 4-H Officer team as the State Treasurer. I have loved every minute of it.
My hobbies include playing tennis, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I also love anything that has to do with math. This summer I had amazing opportunities through 4-H and Colorado Rural Electric Association to spend two week in Washington D.C. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do and I really enjoyed my time on the east coast. I was also able to spend a week in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the New Mexico State 4-H Conference. My favorite part was livestock judging.
After high school, I plan to pursue a path completely different than I grew up in or even comfortable in. I hope to attend Colorado University Boulder in the fall of 2020 to study finance and government. After I graduate with my bachelor’s, I would like to either get involved with El Pomar Foundation or apply to Wolf Law to obtain my J.D.
Although this is my first internship with Ogallala Commons, I have interned before. My first experience was so amazing that I had to get involved even further. I have enjoyed all of my time and can’t wait to continue learning at TBK Bank.

First day at the bank! It was Hawaiian day.
