Bio Daniel Colunga

Hello, my name is Daniel Colunga, and in the fall, I will be a sophomore in college at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas. The degree I am majoring in now is Sports & Exercise Sciences. When I first went into college, I had planned on becoming a Physical Therapist. However, after listening to a couple of presentations from people that have a career in Sports Media and Sports Broadcasting, I have gained an interest towards that. In high school I participated in One-Act Play, and many speaking events in UIL competitions. I enjoyed and was successful in these events at the same time. I enjoy speaking to others and I have the confidence needed to speak in front of large groups. I am originally from the small-town of Silverton, Texas. I have lived here all my life with my parents, and two brothers. It is a small town with a population barely surpassing 700. I enjoy the small-town atmosphere and the loving people. This is my second internship with Ogallala Commons, and I am extremely thankful to be able to return for another opportunity. My first internship I worked alongside the Silverton I.S.D maintenance crew. For the most part I was doing yard work and painting, making sure the school was always presentable. It was really an eye opener, seeing how much of an impact I was able to make giving back to my school, as well as my community through the entire internship. This year I am interning in Media Journalism. Through this I am aiming to strengthen my writing, and networking skills in hopes of increasing my likeliness of possibly becoming a Sports Broadcaster one day.
