Hi there! My name is Tanley Andersen and I am currently a sophomore at Haxtun High School. I was born and raised in Haxtun, Colorado and I’ve lived in this small community for my entire life. Haxtun is a small, agricultural-based town of about 1,000 people in Northeastern Colorado. In other words, it’s kind of smack dab in the middle of nowhere. Living in such a small town has given me many opportunities over my years to develop strong ties within my close-knit community. I try to be as involved as I possibly can, both in and out of the community.
I am currently involved in volleyball and basketball. What I enjoy most about sports is how all different members of our community come together for one night to support our school athletics. Just knowing that I always have a constant support system within my community allows me to persevere through every last minute of every quarter of every game. When I’m not busy at school or on the court, I’m at home, baking and trying out new recipes. I also regularly participate in my local FBLA chapter events. FBLA is a way for me to meet new people that share a similar work ethic and passion. After high school, I plan to attend college and pursue a career in marketing. I am extremely grateful for this internship through Ogallala Commons. I thoroughly enjoyed the orientation retreat and I cannot wait to see where this amazing opportunity will take me!
