Hodos Award

Since 2008, the Hodos Award is given periodically, at the initiative of the Ogallala Commons Executive Director or the Board of Directors, to honor special people or groups whose activities manifest the concrete realities of the commons and commwealth-building. Hodos is a Greek work meaning “The Way” and it is used extensively to indicate a highway (the Book of Isaiah in the Hebrew Scriptures) or the path to the cross (Gospel of Mark in the Christian Scriptures). For Ogallala Commons purpose, /hodos/ refers to those who are “on the way” or who strive to travel metaphorically on “the holy road”.
