Hi, my name is Chloe Johnson. I am 14 years old and I am going to be a freshman this fall at Campo school. I was born and raised near my little town of Campo, Colorado and I am glad that this is where I’m living. I get so many great opportunities! I am involved in Student Council, Friends of Rachel Club, Campo Wesleyan Youth Group, entrepreneurship activities, leadership activities, and sports. I love playing sports and hanging out with friends and family. I help my dad with the cattle and I occasionally help my family with wheat and milo harvest.
I am doing this internship to help with my confidence, but mainly because I care so much about my community. I want to do everything I can to better the town and make kids want to come back after college. I also enjoy helping out anyone in my community.
This is my second year being an intern and I’m glad that I get to do it again because it was such a great opportunity and it taught me how to step out of my comfort zone and gain confidence. Last year for my internship I helped clean up around the community and made things look more inviting. This year my focus is on the Campo Swimming Pool that has recently closed due to lack of funding and upkeep. I attended a Community meeting to find out what the community thoughts were on what the future of the pool should look like. I gathered all that information and with that I’m trying to create a space the entire community will enjoy while still sticking as close as possible to the original donor’s intentions, which was something fun for kids to do in town.
I hope after my internship not only my community but all surrounding communities will be able to enjoy something new! Can’t wait for this to be completed it’s going to be great!
