A Little About Me by Abby Schmucker

Hello, my name is Abby Schmucker, and I am from Nazareth, Texas. My parents were both raised in Nazareth, and although I actually lived near Amarillo for a few years, I have spent the majority of my life in the little town of Nazareth. I have always been a very competitive person, and that has been a main factor of my participation in school activities and sports. Basketball has always been my favorite sport, as I have been playing devotedly since 4th grade. My love for it has only grown over the past few years and I had the opportunity as a sophomore to play for the state champion team in 2014-2015. In addition to basketball, I also participate in cross country and track, and I advanced to state in both this year. While there are definitely times that I do not enjoy running, they are both sports that I love to compete in. Although I devout much of my time to extracurricular activities, school is my top priority. I currently hold the highest GPA in my class and hope to graduate as valedictorian. As of right now, I plan to attend Texas Tech University, but I still have two years to decide as I am not certain what career path I will be choosing. I have found myself interested in business and industry, and I definitely think that my internship through Ogallala Commons under Darryl Birkenfeld will provide me with a basic foundation of work experience and important skills that will benefit me later in life.

One of my favorite memories is playing basketball in the state championship tournament.
One of my favorite memories is playing basketball in the UIL State Championship tournament, and eventually becoming a state champion.
One of my projects through the summer internship involves the watering and planting of our community Food Bank garden.
