Hi! My name is Abby Schmucker and I am beginning my second summer working as an intern for the church and community through Ogallala Commons and Darryl Birkenfeld. I am very excited to begin my senior year at Nazareth in the fall, and I have high hopes for the great things to come. I have attended Nazareth ISD since Kindergarten and have lived in Nazareth since 2004. I have grown to appreciate the wonderful town and all the opportunities it has presented me with. Basketball has been my favorite sport since I began playing in the 4th grade, and the town of Nazareth has helped me play with people who have the same passion for competing as I do. I have competed with my team in the state tournament the past two years. In addition to basketball I compete in cross country and track. In cross country, I advanced to regionals as a freshman and state as a sophomore. In track I made it to regionals in the 800 my freshman year, and I was a part of the mile relay team that placed third at state when I was a sophomore. As a junior I also made it to state for the first time in UIL academics, and I placed third in News Writing and was a part of the state champion journalism team. Aside from extra-curricular activities, I consider my grade very important and hope to maintain my spot at the top of the class in the coming year to graduate as valedictorian. I know that this internship will prepare me for my future endeavors in college and I can only hope to give back a small portion of what this community has given to me.
